Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, Ne. - The Tri-City Storm has acquired goaltender Dayton Rasmussen from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for a pair of draft picks, General Manager and Head Coach Bill Muckalt announced Friday.

Rasmussen, 17, played in one game this season for Waterloo. The 6-foot-2, 201-lb. netminder is from Eden Prairie, MN, the same hometown as current Storm goalie Jake Kielly.

In exchange, Tri-City ships its second round, Phase I pick in the 2016 USHL Entry Draft plus its fourth round, Phase II selection in the 2017 USHL Entry Draft to Waterloo.

"We are excited to bring someone of Dayton's background to Kearney," said Muckalt. "He solidifies our long-term plan in net and we're looking forward to helping him with his development."

Last season, the University of Denver commit played for the Colorado Thunderbirds U16 club, allowing two goals in 21 games on 147 shots, good for a 9-0-0 record, a 0.18 goals against average and a .986 save percentage. Along with current Tri-City forward Brian Hawkinson, Rasmussen backstopped the group to the semifinals in the USA Hockey National Tournament.

Rasmussen participated in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup for Team USA this summer.

Tri-City's next two games are on the road, at 7:05 p.m. against the Lincoln Stars on Friday, Nov. 13 and 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, against Sioux Falls.
