Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN - Kevin Klima and Liam Murphy each had a goal and an assist and Sebastien Dupre made 29 stops for his first career shutout, leading the Moncton Wildcats to a 5-0 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs Thursday at Harbour Station.

Lane Cormier, Manuel Wiederer and Will Bower also scored for Moncton (14-6-2-0), which have won three straight games.

Nathan Noel, Adam Marsh and Mathieu Joseph all had four shots on goal for Saint John (12-9-1-0).

The game remained scoreless into the late stages of the first period, but the Wildcats struck three times in the final four minutes to take early control of the game.

First, Murphy went forward with a faceoff win in the Sea Dogs' zone and found Kevin Klima darting to the net. Klima poked the puck past a surprised Marc-Antoine Turcotte in the Saint John goal.

Just 53 seconds later, with under three minutes left in the period, Noah Corson danced in on the right wing, cut into the middle and fired a wrister that Turcotte kicked out with his left foot. Cormier buried the rebound to make it 2-0.

Moncton extended its lead with a power play goal with under thirty seconds remaining in the frame.

Arizona Coyotes' prospect Conor Garland took a pass behind the Saint John goal and poked the puck in front to Wiederer, just off the right side of the crease. The German import slipped the puck between his legs as he moved in front of the goal, and then slid a backhander under a sprawling Turcotte.

The Wildcats scored three times in a 3:08 span in the first period.

Alex Bishop replaced Turcotte to start the second period, but the Wildcats kept coming.

Just over a minute in, Adam Holwell's point shot was blocked, but the Saint John-native Bower swept the rebound under a surprised Bishop.

Murphy added another just past the two-minute mark.

Kelly Klima took a long shot from the right wing side that dropped at Bishop's feet in the crease. Murphy batted the rebound into an open cage.

Bishop was relieved by Turcotte after making one stop on three shots.

The Sea Dogs outshot Moncton 21-17 over the final forty minutes, but were not able to beat Dupre in the Moncton goal. The 18-year-old rookie earned his first career shutout with 29 saves in a second-star performance.

Turcotte took the loss with 26 stops in more than 57 minutes of work.

Kevin Klima's two points made him first star. Third star went to Murphy, who also had two points in front of 2,685 fans in attendance.

Moncton's victory gives it a 4-0 lead in the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup standings.

Saint John's next game is Friday, November 13th, at 7:30 p.m. against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at Harbour Station. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office, online at harbourstation.ca or by calling 657-1234.
