Lumberjacks Players Make the Educated Decision

Muskegon, MI (November 12th ) - With the early national letter of intent signing period taking place, the Mus- kegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that four players, Joey Daccord (Arizona State), Mitch Eliot (Michi- gan State), Nate Kallen (Ferris State) and Collin Adams (North Dakota) signed their National letters of intent making their college commitments official, following their junior hockey careers.

Lumberjacks goaltender, Joey Daccord will attend Arizona State University following his junior hockey career.

The Ottawa Senators draft pick is in his first season in the USHL, and has posted a 4-4 record with an average of 2.93 goals through nine games.

"It's awesome to finally make it official, and I'm really excited to get started with the program," said Daccord, "my goal was to play Division 1 hockey, and when that goal became an opportunity I had to take it. Arizona State has given me a great chance to do that." The Men's Hockey Program at Arizona State is in its first season of existence, "It's really cool to be the start of something new. Hopefully we have a great couple of years and turn it into a big time hockey school."

Metro Detroit native Mitch Eliot, will attend Michigan State University to play in the highly competitive Big Ten Conference. Eliot is currently listed on the NHL central scouting "players to watch" list for the upcoming 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Eliot is in his second season with the Lumberjacks and has registered one goal and one assist through ten games this season.

"It feels really good, a sense of accomplishment. I've been committed there for awhile, and to make it official feels really good," said Eliot, "I felt like it was a place for me to succeed on and off the ice. Having my family in Michigan, and having Michigan State right in my backyard is also an upside."

Lumberjacks rookie blueliner, Nate Kallen will attend Ferris State University. "I really like their campus, at- mosphere, and style of play." said Kallen, "it's a dream come true, I've always wanted to do this, just really ex- cited."

Collin Adams signed with University of North Dakota in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Adams is in his first season with the Lumberjacks, and is one of the leading scorers, registering four goals and two assists through ten games.

"It's a real honor, and I'm really happy to make it official," said Adams, "I knew it was a perfect fit, they have great facilities, and provides me with a great opportunity to further my hockey career."

The Lumberjacks currently have 18 active players committed to play Division 1 college hockey.

This weekend, the Lumberjacks travel to Fargo for a two game set with the Fargo Force (5-6-1). Next weekend, the Lumberjacks return home for a weekend series with the Eastern Conference leading Dubuque Fighting Saints. The Lumberjacks will support local Muskegon Veterans on Friday for Military Appreciation Night. The following night will feature plenty of family fun when the Lumberjacks host Faith and Family night sponsored by JQ99.
