Descoteaux Signs with Gladiators

DULUTH, GEORGIA - The Atlanta Gladiators announced Thursday that defenseman Nolan Descoteaux and the team have agreed to terms.

Descoteaux (pronounced DUH-coe-TOE), 26, began the current season as a member of the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL, tallying two assists in seven games in South Dakota. The second-year pro completed his first full season of professional hockey last year with the Allen Americans of the ECHL. The Dallas, TX native skated in 58 games and amassed 16 points for the Americans, also appearing in eight playoff games for Allen en route to their first Kelly Cup championship.

No stranger to the Metro-Atlanta area, the 6-foot-0, 215-pound defenseman started his professional career in 2013-14 where he skated in 11 games for Atlanta (then Gwinnett) of the ECHL. Descoteaux registered a goal and two assists for the Gladiators after he concluded he senior season at the NCAA's Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T). The left-handed d-man compiled 27 points in his four collegiate seasons for the Tigers.
