San Antonio Rampage News Release
CEDAR PARK, TX (Nov. 11, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (6-1-4-0) fell to the Texas Stars (8-3-0-1) 6-3 in front of 5,526 at the Cedar Park Center on Wednesday night. It was the first regulation loss of the season, as the Silver and Black entered the game as the only team in the league without a regulation loss.
A Travis Morin backhand gave the Stars an early 1-0 lead, marking just the fourth time this season that the Rampage have given up the first goal of the game. Cory Kane and Brendan Ranford scored within 1:16 of each other to give Texas a 3-0 lead at the 6:51 mark. The Rampage went on the power play late in the frame, but a turnover just inside the zone gave the puck to Jason Dickinson, who buried a shorthanded goal to give Texas a 4-0 lead at the first intermission.
Prior to Wednesday's game, the Rampage had not allowed more than one goal in the first period, and had outscored opponents 11-2 in the opening frame.
Joey Hishon got the Rampage on the board early in the middle frame, notching his second goal of the season. With the secondary assist on the play, Maxim Noreau recorded his 200th professional point.
Midway through the period, Gemel Smith found Greg Rallo in front of the net, and Rallo redirected the puck past Will to make it 5-1 in favor of the Stars.
Andrew Agozzino scored just 24 seconds into the final stanza to make it a 5-2 game, and Nikita Zadorov netted one from the high slot, his second goal in as many games, to cut the deficit to two at 4:22. Jason Dickinson extended the Stars' lead to three late in the period, sealing a 6-3 win for Texas.
In his second start of the season, Roman Will finished with 35 saves on 41 shots. Both teams were scoreless on three power-play opportunities.
Lineup Notes
Andrew Agozzino returned to the lineup after missing the last three games with an upper-body injury and skated on the Rampage's top line with Joey Hishon and Reid Petryk. Michael Schumacher moved up to the second line and played with Colin Smith and Borna Rendulic. Mason Geertsen skated as a forward on the fourth line.
