GARY, IN - The Gary South Shore RailCats announced today that the club has traded LHP Chuck Fontana to the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League for a player to be named during 2016.
Chuck Fontana was the last player from the 2013 American Association Championship club still on the RailCats roster. Fontana went 4-4 with a 3.42 ERA in 2015. He made 24 appearances out of the bullpen before a late conversion to the starting rotation where he made four starts for Gary.
The Staten Island, New York native joined the RailCats on August 7th, 2013 from the Las Vegas Train Robbers of the Pecos League. He would go on to appear in 10 games during the title season with a 5.26 ERA. In 2014 the lefty was in 28 games for the RailCats working in 38.1 innings notching four saves and posting a 4.86 ERA.
