Lawson Crouse Named Team OHL Captain for 2015 CHL Canada Russia Series

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League, in association with the Canadian Hockey League, today announced the players that will serve as captains and alternates for Team OHL competing in the 2015 CHL Canada Russia Series.

Florida Panthers prospect Lawson Crouse of the Kingston Frontenacs will captain Team OHL in both contests against the Russian National Junior Team on Thursday November 12 in Owen Sound, and on Monday November 16 in Windsor, ON. The 18-year-old from Mt. Brydges, ON, is playing in his third OHL season and has 14 points through 11 games so far in 2015-16 with seven goals and seven assists. Crouse captured gold as a member of Canada's National Junior Team at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Alternate captains for Team OHL include Frontenacs' defenceman Roland McKeown who will suit up in both games of the series, with Travis Konecny of the Ottawa 67's serving as an alternate in Game 3 in Owen Sound, and Michael Dal Colle of the Oshawa Generals who will fulfill the role in Game 4 in Windsor.

The trio of McKeown, Konecny, and Dal Colle are all captains of their respective OHL clubs. McKeown, a Carolina Hurricanes prospect, has four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 19 games this season. The 19-year-old from Listowel, ON, is competing in his second straight CHL Canada Russia Series and served as an alternate captain in both games last season. Dal Colle also served as an alternate for Team OHL last season and will play in his third straight series against the Russians. The 19-year-old from Woodbridge, ON, was a first round pick of the New York Islanders in 2014 and has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 17 games for the defending OHL and MasterCard Memorial Cup champions. Konecny, an 18-year-old from Clachan, ON, was selected in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. The forward has five goals and 21 assists for 26 points in 17 games this season and is competing in his second straight CHL Canada Russia Series.

The CHL currently leads the 2015 edition of the Canada Russia Series 6-0 in points following a pair of victories by Team WHL in Kelowna and Kamloops, BC. In 12 years of competition against the Russian National Junior Team the OHL carries a record of 20-3-1 including a 4-0 loss in Peterborough and a 5-1 win in Kingston last season.
