Komets Sign Center Nikita Kashirsky

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Wednesday that center Nikita Kashirsky has agreed to terms and been added to the roster.
Kashirsky (kah-SHEAR-ski), 30, started this season appearing in five games with Greenville before being released on Nov. 4. The Moscow, Russia native is in his eighth season as a pro since making his professional debut at the end of the 2008-09 season appearing in 13 games with South Carolina. Kashirsky was on board for 21 playoff games where he led the Stingrays with +13 and ranked fourth with 18 points en route to the 2009 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship with the Stingrays.
Kashirsky also led Gwinnett in 2011-12 with 33 assists and 49 points for a career ECHL season before joining Reading in 2012-13. The veteran center led the Royals to the 2013 Kelly Cup Championship with 15 assists and ranked third with 20 points appearing in all 22 playoff games.
In 2013-14 Kashirsky skated 44 games with Dundee in the EIHL (Elite Ice Hockey League) in the U.K. and helped the Stars to a Gardiner Conference championship. Last season he returned to the ECHL and was Wichita's fifth-leading scorer with 16 goals while adding 23 assists for 39 points in 64 games.
This week the Komets will skate two road games starting with a 7:35pm faceoff at Cincinnati tonight. Then the Komets will be idle until Sunday when they travel to Quad City for a 5:05pm ET start at the iWireless Center.
Komets home Friday, Nov. 20-- After two road games this week, the Komets will return home to host the Kalamazoo Wings Friday, Nov. 20 at 8pm. It will be Kids Seat Free Night courtesy Aunt Millie's, Parkview Health and the Komets. Any child under the age of 12 can see the game for free with a full-priced adult ticket purchase. It will also be another Marathon Night at Komet Hockey. Again this year Komet fans can save on their Friday night tickets with Marathon. Fans can earn a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with the purchase of three fill-ups at any participating Marathon location.

Komets on the air-- Komet games are scheduled to be aired on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 92.3 as Bob Chase broadcasts Komet hockey play-by-play for his 63rd consecutive season. All Komet radio broadcasts can also be heard worldwide as presented by Omni Source Radio Recycle at www.komets.com. Sunday's game at Quad City will be handled by Shane Albahrani substituting for Bob Chase.
