November 9, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs are a part of several interviews taking place throughout this week on 610 CKTB as we lead up to the official kick off of the Just Stop It, Anti-Bullying campaign this coming Saturday, November 14th at the IceDogs game against the visiting Oshawa Generals.

The interviews kicked off today with IceDogs owners Bill and Denise Burke each talking about the initiative as a whole and will continue throughout the week with interviews at 8:20am and 12:10pm. In addition to the IceDogs, the interviews will feature a number of people from throughout the community with different backgrounds and stories about how bullying has affected their lives.

The full schedule for the interviews is as follows

Tuesday, November 10th

8:20am - Josh Ho-Sang, Niagara IceDogs

12:10pm - Nick Pastorious, Niagara IceDogs

Wednesday, November 11th

8:20am - Karen Smith, Governor Simcoe teacher

12:10pm - Zach Wilkie, Niagara IceDogs

Thursday, November 12th

8:20am - Dan Savoie, Detective Staff Sergeant Major Crimes Unit NRPS & Anti-Bullying Committee Member

12:10pm - Tiana Dominick, Niagara College Student & Anti-Bullying Committee Member

Friday, November 13th

8:20am - Ernie Sibbett, Crime Stoppers Niagara board member & Anti-Bullying Committee Member

12:10pm - Bill & Denise Burke, Niagara IceDogs owners & Anti-Bullying Committee Members

The interviews aim to help spread the word about the efforts of the Anti-Bullying committee and the Just Stop It campaign, as well as provide insight into exactly why bullying is such an important issue and what we can do to help stop it.

We hope that everyone will tune in throughout the week to hear everyone's stories and then join us this coming Saturday, November 14th at 7pm for the kickoff to the Just Stop It campaign.

At the game, the IceDogs will be initiating a challenge to fans, asking them to help us Just Stop It. There will be Just Stop It signs on every seat that night and we encourage everyone in attendance to join us in taking a stand against bullying during the mid-period break in the first period by silently standing and holding up their sign.

During and after the game we will also ask everyone to take a photo with their Just Stop It sign, share it across their social media and then pass along the sign to a friend and ask them to do the same. Our hope is that with this effort we can take a social epidemic that has been fueled by social media and flip the script by using social media to help put an end to it.

We would like to thank 610 CKTB for all their support of this campaign and we hope to see everyone at the Meridian Centre on Saturday as we take a stand against bullying.
