Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

Winterhawks defenseman Caleb Jones had his first three-point game Saturday with a goal and two assists against the Kelowna Rockets. His performance extended his point streak to five games, a span in which he has eight points. Jones, a draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, leads the team's defensemen with 13 points this season (four goals, nine assists), a total that ties him for 12th among all WHL blueliners.

Goaltender Adin Hill is in British Columbia to suit up for Team WHL in the CHL Canada Russia Series tonight in Kelowna and tomorrow in Kamloops. The Canada Russia Series is an opportunity for players eligible for the World Junior Championship to perform in front of Hockey Canada management.

Two Winterhawks rookies earned their first career goals over the weekend. Friday it was defenseman Conor MacEachern jumping into a rush and tipping a puck into the net for the first goal, and point, of his career. Earning an assist on the play was forward Ryan Hughes, who went on to score the first of his career the following night. Hughes has four assists this season to go along with his goal for five points.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

When the Hawks host the Swift Current Broncos Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, fans 21 and over can take part in Novem-beer, a beer tasting event on the concourse. Belmont Station will be hosting the event, which will feature products from Base Camp Brewing, Alameda Brewing, Widmer, Sinfire, Square Mile Cider, Schilling Cider and Vin Vault.
