SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings (5-1-0) scored 1:01 into overtime to defeat the Columbus Cottonmouths (0-3-2), 3-2, at the Landers Center on Military Night Saturday night.

Columbus took the lead in the first period at 10:56 when Adam Chapman converted on a rush with Craig Simchuk. Simchuk went down the right side and and sent the puck to Chapman, who deposited a backhand past Peter Di Salvo.

The RiverKings responded with a two-goal second period to take the lead. They tied the game at 7:13 after putting extended pressure on goalie Shannon Szabados. She made two sprawling saves, but was down when Mark Pustin picked up the puck along the wall near the right circle. He fired the puck to the net and it went under the crossbar with Szabados still down to tie the game at one. Just over a minute later the RiverKings took the lead, 2-1, at 8:36 when Ryan Marcuz snapped a shot past Szabados from the slot.

The Cottonmouths rallied in the third period and tied the game at three when Chris Rial buried a one-timer from the slot off a pass from Andy Bathgate with 2:24 to play in regulation. That sent the game to overtime for the second straight night for the RiverKings.

For the second straight night the RiverKings didn't take long to bury the game-winning goal. Reid Campbell skated into the offensive zone to the right circle and wristed a shot that got through the pads of Szabados to give the RiverKings a 3-2 win in overtime at 1:01, their fifth straight win overall.

The RiverKings wore special military jerseys during the game for Military Night and the jerseys were auctioned live after the game. Through the jersey auction, the RiverKings raised over $5,000 for the RiverKings ReachOut Fund.
