Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Kevin Davis' game-winning goal, bouncing off a defender at the net, and Carter Hart's 23 saves lifted the Everett Silvetips to a 2-1 overtime victory over the Prince George Cougars at XFINITY Arena on Friday night, opening back-to-back games at home.

The Silvertips (7-4-0-1, 15 points) emerged from a four-day layoff with their second victory in overtime this season, breaking a scoreless tie in the third period on captain Dawson Leedahl's third goal of the season. The win was their first at home over Prince George since Sept. 21, 2013 (8-3 victory). Davis, who earned the winner at 3:21, scored his first goal since January of the 2014-15 season. Hart's counterpart, Ty Edmonds, took the loss with 36 stops.

Both teams were deadlocked at 0-0 after one period and Leedahl appeared to push the Silvertips head, 1-0 late in the second period on a loose puck at the bottom of the left circle, but the apparent goal was overturned on an early whistle that blew with the puck rolling to Leedahl's stick.

However, Leedahl (earning first star of the game) persisted for the 1-0 lead at 4:53 of the third period, converting Carson Stadnyk's tape-to-tape centering feed from the right circle. But just 2:07 later, the Silvertips lost Brogan O'Brien through coverage, and the Cougars forward flipped a loose puck past Hart's blocker for a 1-1 tie and his sixth goal of the season.

The tie carried into 3-on-3 overtime, where both teams traded chances off the rush before Davis' finish at 3:21. Remi Laurencelle, coming off a two assist game at Portland on Sunday, fed an outlet pass to Davis who picked up speed at the right wing. Davis looked for Stadnyk, an attempted redirection at the net with the overage forward crashing the crease. Davis' pass, instead, ricocheted off a Prince George defender and into the net for the game winner, sending the Silvertips celebrating onto the ice.

Prince George fell to 2-3-1-0 in road games.
