Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Chicago, Illinois - Rem Pitlick scored twice, including the game winning goal to help propel the Muskegon Lumberjacks to a 3-2 overtime win against the Chicago Steel.

The Lumberjacks produced a strong first period of hockey, outshooting the Steel 11-7, and late in the first pe- riod Matej Paulovic scored his third of the season to give the Lumebrjacks a 1-0 lead. Robbie DeMontis and Mitch Eliot picked up the assists on the goal, and the Lumberjacks took lead into the locker room.

The second period saw the Lumberjacks down a couple men early. Penalties to Pitlick and Bo Hanson forced the Lumberjacks to kill two minutes of a 5-on-3 Steel power play. Blocked shots and big saves from Lumber- jacks goaltender Joey Daccord helped preserve the 1-0 lead.

However, after the successful penalty kill, the Lumberjacks went on the power play, but it was the Steel taking advantage. Karch Bachman forced a turnover at the blue line and scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to tie the game 1-1.

Pitlick helped switch the momentum early in the third period to give the Lumberjacks a 2-1 lead. Chris Klack and Collin Adams picked up the assists on the goal, but the lead did not last long when Steel forward Jake Niel- sen ripped a shot past Daccord to tie the game 2-2. The Lumberjacks would have a late power play opportunity to win the game in regulation, but were unable to score, and the Lumberjacks went to overtime for the second time this season.

After 4-on-4 overtime did not yield any goals, the game switched over to 3-on-3 and the Lumberjacks were able to break through. Pitlick took a pass from Paulovic and Trevor Hamilton and looped around the Steel offensive zone before picking the corner on Steel goaltender Daniel Vladar to give the Lumberjacks a 3-2 overtime win.

The Lumberjacks improved to 3-6 on the season and look ahead to tomorrow night when they take on the Bloomington Thunder. Puck drop is at 8 p.m.

The next home game is November 20th when the Lumberjacks take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints. It will be Military Appreciation Night as the Lumberjacks will support all of the local veterans.
