Three Former Kernels in AFL Fall Stars Game this Saturday

Cedar Rapids, IA - Three former Kernels, catcher Mitch Garver, outfielder Adam Brett Walker and pitcher Nick Burdi, have been selected to play in the Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game, played this Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 PM.

The game, which will be broadcast live on the MLB Network, features top prospects from all 30 Major League teams. Garver, Burdi and Walker will play for the AFL Eastern Division Team and all three represent the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Garver played the entire 2014 season with the kernels, batting .298 with 16 HR and 79 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the ninth round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico.

Burdi pitched in 13 games for the Kernels during the 2014 season, posting four saves and a 4.15 ERA over 13 IP. He was selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville.

Walker played the entire 2013 season for the Kernels, batting .278 with 27 HR and 109 RBI. He led the league in HR and RBI and was selected to the MWL West All-Star team. He was selected by the Twins in the third round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Jacksonville University.

The Kernels open the 2016 Midwest League season at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, April 7th against the Quad Cities River Bandits. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
