Amarillo Bulls Alumni Greg Gibson Gets Award

AMARILLO, TX - A former Amarillo Bulls Alumni has had his hot start recognized by the Hockey Commissioners Association.

Robert Morris senior forward Greg Gibson has been selected as the Hockey Commissioners Association Player of the Month for October.

Gibson has gotten off to a fast start in 2015-16, tallying a point in each of Robert Morris' first six games and multiple points in five of the six games. He has a team and conference-leading 13 points, which have come from six goals and seven assists. Those totals not only have Gibson sitting in the top two amongst Atlantic Hockey skaters in each category, but they also place the Burlington, Ontario native in the top-10 nationally as well. Gibson ranks tied for first in points, tied for third in goals, and tied for fourth in assists.

His performance in the early going has Robert Morris off to a 3-1-2 start and 2-0-2 mark in Atlantic Hockey play. He recorded five goals, including his first career hat trick, in a 1-0-1 weekend at Niagara. For his efforts against the Purple Eagles, he was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week. Then a week later, he notched another five-point weekend, all coming on assists, as Robert Morris went 1-1-0 at then-No. 10 Michigan. The Colonials' 4-0 win over Michigan on October 31 was Robert Morris' first win over a top-10 ranked team since December 2012.

In other college hockey news from the past week, Clint Carlisle and Joe Kozlak combined for three points as Army and Bentley played to a 2-2 tie. Carlisle picked up a goal and an assist, while Joe Kozlak got an assist. In the second game between the two teams, the Co-Captain Kozlak had an assist as Army dropped a 6-2 decision to Bentley.

Defenseman Joe Grabowski scored as Princeton defeated Maine 3-1. Goaltender Colin Delia had another great performance kicking aside 31 of 34 shots as Merrimack College edged Boston University 4-3. Hampus Gustafsson tied the game with a goal in the third period.

Mike Davis got Neumann University off to a great start as Division III action faced off over the weekend. Davis fired two goals and added two assists as Neumann blasted Daniel Webster 12-1. In the second game, Davis added a goal as Neumann beat Salve Regina 3-1.

Milwaukee School of Engineering split games with Adrian College. Gage Christianson and Omar Mullan each had an assist as MSOE beat Adrian, the No. 3 team in the nation, 5-1. In the second game Adrian got by MSOE 5-3. Omar Mullan scored and Christianson set up two goals.

The current Amarillo Bulls are back on home ice this weekend hosting the Wichita Falls Wildcats on Friday and Saturday at 7 pm. Saturday is Military Appreciation Night Presented by Vista College. All Military and Veterans get free tickets, while Military Family Members receive discounted tickets. Selected Bulls players will wear special military jerseys in warm up with an a silent auction taking place on the concourse.
