Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce the team's 2016 schedule.
The Doubledays will open the 2016 season on Friday, June 17 at Falcon Park against the Batavia Muckdogs at 7:05pm in the first game of a season-opening five-game homestand that will also see the Mahoning Valley Scrappers come to Auburn.
The 38-game home slate includes 26 contests against Pinckney Division rivals Batavia, Mahoning Valley, State College, Williamsport, and defending NYPL champion West Virginia. Three-game interdivision series against Lowell (Boston Red Sox affiliate), Vermont (Oakland), Connecticut (Detroit Tigers), and Tri-City (Houston Astros) make up the remainder of the home schedule.
Standard game times are 7:05pm for Monday through Saturday home games and 5:05pm for Sunday home games with the following two exceptions: Wednesday, July 13 is scheduled for a 12:05pm first pitch and Sunday, August 14 is scheduled for a 2:05pm first pitch.
The Doubledays will play five Sunday home games, including Father's Day, June 19; five Monday home games, including Independence Day, July 4; six Tuesday home games; five Wednesday home games; five Thursday home games; six Friday home games, including Opening Day, June 17; and six Saturday home games, including the regular season home finale, September 3.
Gameday promotions, including dates for fireworks, giveaways, and theme nights will be announced in the coming months.
"After a successful season that saw a 14% increase in our attendance, we are very much looking forward to the 2016 season," said Doubledays General Manager Mike Voutsinas. "Our staff is already hard at work making plans for the upcoming season and the release of our schedule is something that we know our fans look forward to."
Season ticket plans for the upcoming season are on sale now through the Doubledays ticket office at Falcon Park. Fans may choose from full-season (38 games), half-season (20 pre-selected games), or flex (10 undated tickets) options, with special early bird pricing in effect until December 1.
