Philadelphia Union Announced as Finalist for MLS Fair Play Award

Chester, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2015) - Major League Soccer today announced the finalists for its 2015 awards, which recognizes the top players, coaches and officials during the 2015 MLS Regular Season. Among the finalists, the Philadelphia Union were chosen for the MLS Fair Play award, which the club also won in 2014. The Union are finalists in 2015 along with Seattle Sounders FC and Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Fair Play Award is selected by MLS based on objective criteria such as fewest fouls committed, cards received and on subjective evaluation of sportsmanlike behavior. In 2015, the Union committed the fewest fouls in MLS with 374, well below the league average of 439. The Union also received the fourth fewest amount of yellow cards at 53.

This marks the second consecutive year the Union have been recognized for fair play. The club won the award in 2014 by committing the fifth fewest fouls in the league (413) and receiving the fewest yellow cards (37). Individually, in the club's history, Sebastien Le Toux won the award in 2010 and 2011.
