Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, Mont. - According to reports, former Missoula Osprey player (2000) and manager (2012) Andy Green will be named the next manager of the San Diego Padres.

Green, 38, just finished his 12th season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and his first coaching at the major-league level. Green began his professional playing career with the Osprey in 2000. He spent four seasons in the major leagues including three with Arizona and one with the New York Mets.

Green managed the 2012 Osprey to their third Pioneer League title. Green also managed the Double- A Mobile BayBears for two seasons, being named the Southern League Manager of the Year in both 2013 and 2014. With Green at the helm, Mobile also made two postseason appearances.

In 2015, Green served as the D-backs third-base coach under Osprey manager alum and current D- backs skipper Chip Hale. Green joins Hale as the second Osprey alum to be appointed a major league managerial position.

The Padres went 74-88 this past season, firing longtime manager Bud Black at midseason and then firing interim manager Pat Murphy after the season. The Padres have not made an appearance in the post season since 2006.

Earlier this week, former Osprey pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr (2005-06) left his post as the D- backs bullpen coach to become the Seattle Mariners pitching coach under new manager Scott Servais.
