Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND - The Portland Thunder and the Oregon Lottery are pleased to announce a partnership agreement has been reached for the 2016 AFL Season.

"We would like to welcome the Oregon Lottery as a member of the Thunder Family," owner Terry Emmert stated. "Their organization is well known as a blue chip to Oregonians, and we are thrilled to announce their involvement for next season."

The Thunder enter their third season in the AFL in 2016, following a sophomore campaign that was characterized by significant achievements both on and off the field. The Thunder made the National Conference playoffs for a second consecutive season, and set a Portland AFL record for attendance (14,055) during their last home game in 2015.

The Arena Football League represents the highest level of professional indoor football in the world, and that was evidenced in the play of WR/KR Duane Brooks and C John Collins, both All-Arena selections in 2015. Brooks also set the AFL record for kickoff return touchdowns in a single season during the Thunder's last campaign (8).

Since the Oregon Lottery began in 1985, it has earned nearly $10 billion for economic development, public education, state parks, and watershed enhancements throughout the state.

"The Oregon Lottery is looking forward to working with the Portland Thunder," said Oregon Lottery Sr. Marketing Communications Manager Mark Strickler. "The Thunder's fan base is much like most Oregon Lottery players. The excitement and fun of the games is what brings them together."
