Philadelphia Union to Host Inaugural 5K Run/Walk

Chester, Pa. (Oct. 19, 2015)- The Philadelphia Union will host their inaugural 5k Run/Walk on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. Amateur and competitive runners along with Union fans are encouraged to wear their holiday clothes or favorite Union gear and enjoy the race. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the annual Toy Drive benefitting families in Chester.

Check-in will begin at 9 a.m. with the race starting at 10 a.m. The top male and female runners will receive two tickets to a regular season MLS match in 2016.

"The event will be first of its kind at PPL Park," said PPL Park Stadium General Manager Mike Scanlon. "We have developed an exciting course for the runners and hope that the event provides lasting memories for all involved."

The course will take place in and around PPL Park and after the race, participants and fans are invited to the Union?s annual holiday event at the stadium where they can decorate the goals, drink hot chocolate, play FIFA and watch the MLS Cup final. Season ticket members can RSVP to take a picture with the players in the locker room.

"Connecting the holiday festivities with the Philadelphia Union creates the opportunity to celebrate and give back to the community," said Philadelphia Union Executive Vice President Dave Rowan. "We are grateful to help the less fortunate with the Toy Drive."

The Philadelphia Union Inaugural 5k Run/Walk is $40 for those that would like to participate. More information can be found at www.philadelphiaunion.com/fans/5k.
