Sioux Falls, SD - The Musketeers roared to a 2-0 lead in the first period at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls tonight, but were not able to slow the Stampede down for the remainder of the game in a 7-3 loss.
Sioux City would pick up the first goal of the game when Matt Steeves (Austin Dittenhafer) scored his second goal of the season at 6:37 of the first. Josh Wilkins (unassisted) made it 2-0 Sioux City with his first USHL goal, a short-hander, at the 9:30 mark. Sioux Falls' Eric McAdams pulled Sioux Falls within one with a goal at 14:55 of the first.
Sioux Falls owned the scoreboard in the second with goals by Csanad Erdely, (Danial Warpecha), a short hander at 4:46 and AJ Vanderbeck (Shane Sellar),at 11:06.
Matt Steeves (Ryan Zuhlsdorf, Mitch Fossier) tied the game with his third goal fo the season at 6:37 of the third, but the Sampede took control for the remainder, scoring 4 unanswered goals to finish with a 7-3 win.
The Musketeers (2-4-0-0, 4 points) return to action on Friday night in Omaha for their first visit to Ralston Arena against the Lancers (4-2-0-0, 8 points) this season.
Sioux City returns to the Tyson Events Center on Sunday afternoon for a 3:00pm game against the Waterloo Blackhawks (2-1-0-1, 5 points).
The Sunday game hosts the characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf from the movie Frozen. Fans are encouraged to stick around after the game for a skate with the team event. Skates are available for rent for $3.00/pair. Fans who bring their own skates can skate for free.
