Stu MacGregor Named GM, Craig Bonner Resigns

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club announced today that Stu MacGregor has been named Vice President & General Manager of the hockey club effective immediately.

Craig Bonner has resigned, and will be moving on to another hockey opportunity.

"We would like to thank Craig for his dedication and hard work with the Kamloops Blazers. We wish him all the best moving forward," commented co-owner, Shane Doan.

Stu MacGregor joins the Kamloops Blazers as the hockey club's Vice President & General Manager. MacGregor spent the past 17 years as an NHL Scout with the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers.

"I am honoured to be joining the Kamloops Blazers organization," commented Vice President / General Manager, Stu MacGregor. "This franchise is one of the most storied and successful organizations in the Canadian Hockey League. I am excited to get started."

He was a Scout with the Dallas Stars when they won the Stanley Cup in 1999.

MacGregor's most recent position was the Edmonton Oilers Director of Amateur Scouting from 2008 until 2015.

MacGregor began his hockey career scouting for the Kamloops Jr. Oilers in 1982. He was also a coach at the Southside Athletic Club in Edmonton during the 1980's.

MacGregor and his family have resided in Kamloops since 1991. MacGregor was named the Blazers Assistant General Manager & Director of Player Personnel in 1991 and was named General Manager in 1995.

He was the Blazers General Manager from 1995 until 1998, when he took a position with the Dallas Stars.

MacGregor was part of the Kamloops Blazers organization for six WHL Championships and three Memorial Cups between 1984 and 1995.

"We are thrilled to have Stu join our organization at this time, commented co-owner Tom Gaglardi. "We believe his experience and knowledge will benefit our Club, and his long association with our head coach, Don Hay, creates an incredible tandem of leadership for the Kamloops Blazers. I also wish to thank Craig Bonner for all of his efforts and guidance over the past seven plus seasons in Kamloops."

The Kamloops Blazers will continue their regular season schedule tonight as they host the Red Deer Rebels. Game time is 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
