Forward Maxime Sauve Added to South Carolina Roster

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have added added forward Maxime Sauve to the Training Camp roster. The club also released defenseman Kyle Shapiro and forward Jordan Reed from their tryout agreements.

Sauve, 25, was assigned to the Stingrays by the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Sauve brings vast professional experience to the Stingrays. The forward has skated in 213 career AHL games, scoring 51 goals and 55 assists for 106 points. He was a second round selection of the Boston Bruins in 2008, and spent four years in the Bruins organization. During the 2011-2012 season, Sauve was recalled to Boston, and made his NHL debut on March 11, 2012.

After spending time in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Sauve moved to Germany to play with Kolner Haie in the DEL last season, scoring nine points (three goals, six assists) in 27 games.

Sauve comes from a hockey family. His father, Jean-Francois Sauve, played in 290 career NHL games for Buffalo and Quebec, and his uncle, Bob Sauve, was a goaltender in the NHL for Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago and New Jersey. His cousin, Philippe Sauve, was also a goaltender and played several season with the Hershey Bears, and played for four NHL teams.

In addition to adding Sauve, the Stingrays released both Shapiro and Reed from tryout agreements. Both players skated in the club's preseason opener last night, a 5-0 loss to Greenville.

The Stingrays conclude the preseason tonight versus Atlanta at the Carolina Ice Palace. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m. and the game is open to Season Ticket Holders.
