Hitmen Defeat Rebels 4-1

CALGARY, AB - The Red Deer Rebels and the Calgary Hitmen met for a battle of the top two teams in the Central Division, each with records of 4-1-0-0 going into the game, and it was the Hitmen coming out on top by a score of 4-1.

The Hitmen opened the scoring on a power play goal by Travis Sanheim. The Rebels responded with an even strength marker by Ivan Nikolishin. Michael Spacek and Brandon Hagel had the assists. For Spacek, it gives him at least a point in every game the Rebels have played this season. The Hitmen went back in the lead when Jake Bean put one in. It was 2-1 Hitmen after one period.

In the second period, the Hitmen added two more power play goals. Radel Fazleev and Jake Bean made it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

No scoring in the third period.

The final shots were 25-23 for Calgary. Rylan Toth made 21 saves in the Rebels net; Lasse Patersen made 22 saves in the Hitmen goal.

Calgary was 3 for 6 on the power play; the Rebels were 0 for 3.

The Rebels will host the Hitmen Saturday for a 7:00PM game at the ENMAX Centrium, the broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 6:30PM.
