October 9, 2015 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Moncton Wildcats now have a 7-3 record after a road win tonight against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
The Wildcats took to the ice in Baie-Comeau this evening to kick off the first of three Quebec road games this weekend. This match also marked the first game back for defenceman Jacob Sweeney after returning from New Jersey training camp; and Conor Garland was back in the lineup tonight as well!
âMoncton came out striking first with two unanswered goals in the first frame. Askew opened things up early on; the lone assist on that marker went to Conor Garland.
Later in that period Adam Holwell added another for the Cats, making it 2-0 heading into the second; assists on Holwell's goal went to Kevin Klima and Garland.
Kelly Klima also found the back of the net in the second, making that his 6th goal of the season thus far. Assists went to Wiederer and Murphy.
Baie-Comeau would end up registering two goals in the second and third, but Will Smith added an empty netter in the third to seal the deal, making the final 5-2 for Moncton.
Zach Fortin made 21 saves on the night; and Cam Askew was named first star of the game!
The Wildcats will finish out their road trip at Chicoutimi and Quebec before heading home.
Don't forget that this coming weekend the 16th & 18th is Pink in the Rink, brought to you by Rallye Motors! Come out in your best pink outfit to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
