Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate forwards Dawson Holt and Brendan Semchuk on being selected as part of a group of 66 players who will represent Hockey Canada at the upcoming 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

"It's always great to see our players selected to represent their country," said Giants Director of Player Personnel Jason Ripplinger. "We know that joining Hockey Canada will be a great experience for both Dawson and Brendan, and it will only serve to benefit them as they continue forward with their hockey careers."

Holt, who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was chosen eighth overall by the Giants in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. The 16-year-old has tallied four assists in six games with the G-Men this season.

Semchuk also went in the first round of the 2014 Bantam Draft at 10th overall to the Giants. Hailing from Kamloops, Semchuk has seen the ice in four games for the Giants this season.

The 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will take place in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, BC from October 30th to November 7th. Over the next few weeks, Holt and Semchuk will be named to one of three squads - Canada Black, Canada Red and Canada White. Prior to 2014, Canada was represented by five regional teams.

The tournament will bring together the top players in the world born in 1999 or later. The three Canadian teams will be joined by the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, and the United States, forming two groups of four teams.

The Giants' next home game is on Friday, October 16th when the Tri-City Americans visit the Pacific Coliseum. For tickets, visit TicketLeader.ca or call 604-4-GIANTS.
