ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Red Wings have been nominated for four MiLBY Awards, presented annually for the best plays, players, performances and promotions among all Minor League teams.

Each category will be determined by a fan vote that runs online through Tuesday, October 27. Minor League Baseball will reveal the winners between October 28 and November 5. Fans can vote an unlimited number of times.

Red Wings nominees are listed below:

Promotion of the Year: Miracle on Ice Night

The 35th Anniversary of the 1980 Miracle on Ice was in February so to commemorate the occasion, the Red Wings hosted a Miracle on Ice that featured special jerseys worn by both Rochester and Syracuse, referee jerseys for the three umpires and specials guests John Harrington, Ken Morrow and Mike Ramsey, who all played on the 1980 United States Men's Ice Hockey team that upset the Soviet Union and eventually won gold in Lake Placid, NY.

Top Starting Pitcher: Jose Berrios

Jose Berrios showed why he was not only one of the top arms in a strong Minnesota Twins system but one of the best pitchers in all of the Minor Leagues. He led the minors with 175 strikeouts between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester and pitched to a 1.08 ERA (3 ER, 25.0 IP) in his final four starts of the season with the Red Wings. Berrios finished with a 2.87 ERA in 27 starts and tied for ninth in the Minor Leagues with 14 wins.

Photo of the Year: Buxton Meets Silver

Wings photographer Joe Territo captured the exact moment that highly touted Twins prospect, Byron Buxton, crashed into the center field wall while trying to make a catch in just his third game at Frontier Field. The impact came next to Morrie E. Silver's retired number 8,222, representing the number of original local stockholders Silver brought together to save the team in 1957.

Best Farm System: Minnesota Twins

Rochester is proud to be affiliated with the Minnesota Twins who now have one of the top farm systems in baseball. Led by highly-touted prospects Byron Buxton and Jose Berrios, both Red Wings in 2015, and other youngsters like Miguel Sano and Max Kepler, the Twins boasted the seventh-best composite record of affiliates in the minors and had a turnaround season in the Majors. Teams at Triple-A, Double-A and both Class-A squads all won at least 76 games.
