BayHawks Receive High Draft Choices for Kevin Crowley

October 8, 2015 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Chesapeake Bayhawks News Release

ANNAPOLIS, MD- The Chesapeake Bayhawks announced Thursday that they have received two high draft choices from the Charlotte Hounds in exchange for midfielder Kevin Crowley.

The Bayhawks will receive the Hounds' second round choice in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft, the 11th overall pick. The Bayhawks will also receive the Hounds' second round choice in the 2015 MLL supplemental draft, the 15th overall selection. The supplemental draft will be held in December, the collegiate draft in January.

After a storied career at Stony Brook University, Crowley, 27, was the overall number one pick in both the MLL and indoor National Lacrosse League drafts. Crowley was the MLL MVP in 2013 and was acquired by the Bayhawks in July 2014 from the Florida Launch. He finished the season with Chesapeake, and also played part of the 2015 season with the team after finishing the NLL indoor season. In nine games over two seasons, Crowley scored six goals and recorded seven assists for the Bayhawks.

The Atlanta Blaze joins the MLL in 2016, and the resulting expansion draft allows each team to protect only twelve players. The Bayhawks faced difficult choices at every position, and the trade of Crowley effectively allows the team not only to protect twelve players now, but also to acquire two additional players after the expansion draft is held in November.
