The National Hockey League announced the league's 23-man rosters yesterday for the 2015-16 season for its 30 member teams. The Green Bay Gamblers had 6 alumni listed on NHL rosters.
Former Gamblers who made the cut include: Eric Gryba (Edmonton Oilers), Matt Greene (Los Angeles Kings), Ryan Carter (Minnesota Wild), Anders Lee (New York Islanders), Justin Braun (San Jose Sharks) and Blake Wheeler (Winnipeg Jets).
Along with the players listed above former Gamblers head coach and general manager Jon Cooper enters his third full season as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Cooper has amassed a 100-59-20 record and his .615 winning percentage is the highest in franchise history. Last season, Cooper led the Lightning to an Eastern Conference Championship and a birth in the Stanley Cup Finals.
The United States Hockey League in total have 93 alumni listed on NHL rosters, an increase of 13 players from last season's opening-day rosters. Currently, 212 USHL alumni are currently signed to NHL contracts. The 2015-16 regular season begins tonight with four games.
