South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced the club's initial Training Camp roster today.
With Training Camp opening yesterday, the team's initial roster features 22 players. Returners on the initial Training Camp roster include forward Patrick Gaul, skating in his fourth season with the Stingrays, and Joe Devin, who played a large role in the club's playoff run last season. Brett Cameron returns to the team after joining the Stingrays late last year following his NCAA career at Alaska-Anchorage. On the blue line, Wade Epp and Marcus Perrier return, and Brendan Ellis, who missed all of last season due to injury, also appears on the Training Camp roster.
New additions include veteran goaltender Mark Dekanich, who has seven years pro experience and made his NHL debut with the Nashville Predators in 2010. Forward Trevor Gillies brings toughness, and played parts of three seasons with the New York Islanders. Joey Leach and Bobby Shea, a pair of defenders assigned to the Stingrays from the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears, add professional experience to a strong blue line.
The initial Training Camp Roster is below and is subject to change. Additional players participating in American Hockey League camps are expected to be added in the coming week once reassigned and approved. A complete roster with uniform numbers for all players will be announced in the near future.
