Louisiana IceGators Sign 6 More for Training Camp
October 7, 2015 - SPHL (SPHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
All of the hard work IceGator's Head Coach, Drew Omicioli, has put into a summer of recruiting has really paid off. This list of good, young players coming into training camp is quite impressive. Coach Omicioli explains into detail, what he believes each of his new signings will bring to the Frozen Swamp.
Jacob Laliberte (F) - "Jacob is smaller speedy forward who can come in and be a top scorer in our league. His offensive skills will not go unnoticed. Laliberte's Canadian junior numbers (433 points) earned him a scholarship to powerhouse RPI DIV 1. Jacob has the ability to take over games and his skill to go along with our toughness, I feel the name Laliberte will soon be a household name in Lafayette."
Matt Cooper (G) - "Matt is a goaltender who came highly recommended to me through a personal contact. His save percentage and goal against average speak for themselves as he dominated the ACHA at Iowa State University. I feel Cooper will come in and make our camp that much stronger and will be a guy who is fighting for an opportunity to be a starter."
Johnny Daniels (F) - "Johnny is coming to us from Div3 St. Anselm's College. He amassed 85 points in 91 games and displayed he can both score and be a playmaker. Daniels is a versatile, smaller forward who is not afraid to get to the dirty areas and is a player who can be a threat every time he touches the puck."
Vladyslav Gavrik (F) - "Vladyslav is a big power forward with great tools. His ability to play with and without the puck makes his a physical offensive presence every shift. At 6'4" 220, the Ukrainian forward displayed his talents first at Skidmore College and then went on to be over a point a game guy in the FHL. Vlad can come in and be one of the league's premier big men."
Matthew Geurts (D) - "Matt finished up a stellar career at St. Olaf College of the NCAA Div3. Geurts is a solid puck moving defenseman with offensive upside. I am looking at Matt to come in and bring tons of energy to go along with his offensive abilities to be an all-around solid blueliner for our team. His speed and strength will make him a very difficult player to play against."
Radolsav Konecny (F) - "Radolsav is a diamond in the rough. I have had the ability to see Rad play and skate and he has tremendous offensive skill to go along with a punishing power forward mentality. At 6'0" 195, Konecny has the tools to do it all. I can see Rad coming in and being a prolific player in the SPHL."
The IceGators home opener is less than a month away. The puck will drop for the IceGators home opener on November 5th at 7:05pm at the Cajundome.
