Florida Panthers Assign Wilson to Pirates

Portland, ME - The Florida Panthers, NHL affiliate of the Portland Pirates, today announced the reassignment of forward Garrett Wilson to the Portland Pirates. The move was made after Wilson cleared NHL waivers.
Wilson, a 6-foot-2, 199 pound left wing from Barrie, Ontario played in 71 games for San Antonio last season, putting up career highs in goals (23) and points (38). The 24 year-old also skated in two games with the Panthers last season. Wilson additionally notched two assists in three Calder Cup Playoff games with San Antonio last season.
Entering his fifth pro season, Wilson has played 179 AHL games, all with San Antonio, five NHL games, all with Florida, and 101 games with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.
Wilson was selected in Fourth Round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by Florida. Before turning pro, he played three seasons with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL.
Wilson's reassignment means the Pirates roster is currently at 24 players: 14 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goalies.

Portland's regular season opener will be at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Sunday, October 11 against the Providence Bruins at 3:05 p.m.
