October 6, 2015 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB., October 6, 2015 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are calling on all teachers, parents and coaches to nominate a young person in their community for the first annual Samantha Mason Friendship Award, created by the Bombers in memory of Samantha Mason, who was a victim of bullying at her school in Winnipeg.
The team will also be supporting the Amanda Todd Legacy project, another anti-bullying initiative, by lighting up the exterior of Investors Group Field in purple for World Mental Health Day on October 10.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will select five youth who have taken action in her or his school or community to eliminate bullying by embracing the core values of the Blue Bombers Kindness Pledge, written in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection. These five champions will be presented with the Samantha Mason Friendship award by the Mason family, tickets to the 103rd Grey Cup Game, and honoured on-field at the October 24th Winnipeg Blue Bombers game at Investors Group Field.
Nomination forms must be forwarded to community@bluebombers.com by October 21st to be eligible for the Samantha Mason Friendship Award.
