MIDDLETOWN -- Turnvoers cost the New Jersey Titans their winning streak as the Johnstown Tomahawks captured a 4-3 victory at Middletown Ice World on Saturday night.
New Jersey would get on the scoreboard first when Anthony Cusanelli slipped the puck past the pads of Tomahawks goalie Nick DeSimone on the power play. Adam Hascic and Jesse Farabee assisted on Cusanelli's seventh goal of the season.
The Tomahawks would not register a shot until 10 minutes into the first period but would tie the game with four mintes left to play when Tommy Horn scored from an Adam Ostrowski pass.
Andrew Romano would capitalize on a Titan turnover to make it 2-1 late in the first period.
On the power play, Johnstown would score.Horn directed a puck five-hole on Titans goalie Jack Berry for his second goal of the game.
Minutes later, Keegan Miller cut the deficit for the Titans to 3-2 before the second period came to a close.
In the third, the Titans were pinned in their own zone and Drew Doyon of Johnstown would convert a Titan turnover to regain the two-goal lead for Johnstown.
However, New Jersey fought back as Raymond Brice talied on the man advantage with less than four minutes to play in regulation.
DeSimone denied all Titans chances late in the third and the Tomahawks skated to a 4-3 win.
Despite the loss, New Jersey still remains on top of the East Division with a record of 6-2 and 12 points.
The Titans take to the road this week and visits Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday Oct. 8 and Aston on Oct. 9.
