Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

The Wolf Pack's 19th season of AHL play gets going this Saturday, October 10, as the Pack host the St. John's IceCaps at the XL Center in a 7:00 PM game. The Pack played three preseason games to tune up for the new season, and won two of the three. Hartford bested the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in overtime, 3-2, Thursday night at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, and then the Wolf Pack captured a 3-1 victory Saturday night at Lehigh Valley. In the Pack's only home exhibition contest Sunday at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, the Sound Tigers downed the Wolf Pack by a score of 3-1.

This week:

The Wolf Pack opens its 2015-16 campaign at its XL Center home ice this Saturday, October 10, hosting the St. John's IceCaps at 7:00 PM. The Wolf Pack will be raising the Northeast Division championship banner that the team won last season, and the first 5,000 fans will take home a Wolf Pack magnetic schedule, courtesy of CT-DOT.

Saturday, October 10 vs. the St. John's IceCaps at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

- The Wolf Pack are coming off of a 2014-15 season that saw them win a Northeast Division title, with a 43-24-5-4 record for 95 points. The Wolf Pack will raise a banner to commemorate the division championship right before Saturday's faceoff.

- Another highlight of the opening-night festivities at the XL Center will be a giveaway of Wolf Pack magnetic schedules to the first 5,000, sponsored by CT-DOT.

- The IceCaps have a new affiliate this season, the Montreal Canadiens, after playing their first four years as a Winnipeg Jets affiliate.

- St. John's' new head coach is former Wolf Pack and New York Ranger defenseman Sylvain Lefebvre, who coached Montreal's previous AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, for the last three years.

- Last season under Keith McCambridge, the IceCaps finished 32-33-9-2 for 75 points. That put them fifth in the Atlantic Division, 12 points behind fourth-place Portland and the last Eastern Conference playoff spot.

- This is the first of four games on the year between the Wolf Pack and IceCaps, who also played a four-game series last season. The Pack were 1-2-0-1 in those four contests, and had a 4-2 win and a 7-3 loss to show for two home games vs. St. John's. In the all-time series, the Wolf Pack are 4-10-1-1 against the IceCaps, and that home win January 2 of last year is the Pack's only home victory over the IceCaps in eight all-time tries (1-6-1-0).

- Tickets for this and all 2015-16 Wolf Pack home games are on sale now at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center, on-line at www.hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499.
