Lone Star Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - It was bound to happen sometime as the Brahmas took their first regulation loss Friday night at the hands of the Topeka RoadRunners by a score of 4-3.

The game was delayed due to the Topeka zamboni, which faltered just prior to the start time. Once play finally got underway it was the home team who grabbed the early lead courtesy of Matt Jennings. September NHL Central Scouting goaltending prospect Tyler Johnson was credited with an assist. However, Kyle Patava evened things back up at one with his second of the season with just three minutes to go in the opening period. Unfortunately, 27 seconds after that the RoadRunners reclaimed the lead thanks to a Marcus Russell goal, one of his two of the evening.

Russell would grab his second in the second, but not before Pennsylvania's very own Alex Berardinelli lit the lamp. Cameron Clarke was awarded his second assist on the night but the Brahmas headed into the locker room down 3-2 at the end of two.

Early in the third key returner Luka Maver struck with the extra attacker on with a delayed penalty looming. The infraction would eventually be a game misconduct against Sean Giles for checking from behind. Oscar Andren added a power play goal with ten minutes remaining, however it wasn't enough as the Brahmas fall to the RoadRunners, 4-3.

Corbin Kaczperski takes the loss while making 26 saves on 30 shots.

The two teams will battle again tomorrow night at the Kansas Expo Center.
