Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms defeated the Bloomington Thunder by a final score of 5-1 Saturday night. Phantoms goaltender Colin DeAugustine paved the way with a 34-save performance, with the lone Bloomington tally coming on a power-play.

"The guys did great helping me out, and I think I was seeing the puck well from the point. The first two periods I gave up too many rebounds, but the defense was great. Nice to get the two points tonight and hopefully we'll do the same tomorrow," DeAugustine said.

The Phantoms were able to start strong, taking a two goal lead into the first intermission, and a four goal lead into the third period. Phantoms defenseman Luke McInnis continued piling up the points, registering another assist and his first USHL goal.

"It was a great feeling getting the goal, but more importantly our first win. We'll come ready to battle again tomorrow and hopefully get another win," said McInnis.

Also scoring his first USHL goal was Japanese-born Yushiro Hirano. The Phantoms first line of Morrison, Pearson, and Winkler all found the back of the net, eventually leading to Bloomington pulling goaltender Logan Halladay.

The Phantoms will be back in action at the Covelli Centre against Bloomington tomorrow night, Saturday, October 3. Puck drop is set for 7:05.
