MLS All-Star Fabian Castillo Called in by Colombian National Team

FRISCO, Texas (Friday, Oct. 2) - FC Dallas' Fabian Castillo (Colombia) and Alejandro Zendejas (U.S. U-17 National Team) have received call-ups from their respective national teams, the club announced today.

This is the second time Castillo has received an invitation from the Colombian National Team. The MLS All-Star will join Colombian head coach Jose Pékerman for two upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Zendejas was named to the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which runs from Oct. 17 to Nov. 8 in Chile.

Castillo, 23, will join Colombia following FC Dallas' match against the Houston Dynamo at Toyota Stadium this Sunday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. CT.

Currently ranked fourth in the FIFA World rankings, Colombia is scheduled to face Peru at 3 p.m. CT at Metropolitano Roberto Melendez Barranquilla in Barranquilla, Colombia, on Thursday, Oct. 8. Colombia's second FIFA World Cup qualifying match will be at Estadio Centenario Montevideo in Montevideo, Uruguay, on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Los Cafeteros will face Uruguay in that match, which is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT.

The midfielder leads FC Dallas in goals (9) and assists (7) this season. Castillo ranks seventh in franchise history in goals scored (29) since being acquired from Deportivo Cali on March 7, 2011.

Zendejas, 17, joins the U.S. U-17s, which were drawn into Group A with host Chile, Croatia and Nigeria. The team opens group play against Nigeria on Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. CT in Santiago. The team will then square off with Croatia on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. CT in Vina Del Mar and Chile on Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. CT in Vina Del Mar.

Currently the youngest player in MLS, Zendejas has made eight appearances this season for a total of 187 minutes.
