Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Wednesday, September 30, 2015) - Western New York Flash defender Abby Dahlkemper has been loaned to Adelaide United, a member of the Australian W-League, it was announced today.

"I am really excited to get the opportunity to play with Adelaide United for this upcoming 2015-16 season," said Dahlkemper. "I can't wait to help the team be successful in any way I can. I have heard nothing but positive things about the Australian league and I can't wait to continue Sent from my iPhone league and with Adelaide United."

Dahlkemper, who just completed her first season of professional soccer, appeared and started in all 20 of the Flash's 2015 matches, playing all but 16 minutes this year. The rookie was a versatile player as well, featuring at center back, right back and holding midfield at various points in the season. Her contributions to the club led to her being named both Defender and Rookie of the Year.

Dahlkemper was selected with the Flash's first pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft (No. 3 overall) out of UCLA. She will join Adelaide in October and will play through the season's completion in January. The opportunity also reunites her with former UCLA teammate Sarah Killion, who was also loaned to the Lady Reds by NWSL side Sky Blue FC.

Dahlkemper will be available to return to the Flash prior to the start of the 2016 NWSL season.

"As a club, we are excited that Abby will be a Lady Red this offseason," said Flash general manager Rich Randall. "She is a young player with a lot of potential and opportunities like this will help her continue to grow at a high level.  We wish her the best there and look forward to her return to Western New York in the spring!"
