INDEPENDENCE, MO (September 28, 2015) - The Missouri Comets announced today that the team has signed midfielder Travis Pittman for the upcoming Major Arena Soccer League season. In addition, midfielder Cody Hoffman re-signed and will be back after being signed towards the end of last year's campaign. Per league and team policies, additional contract details were not disclosed.

"Travis [Pittman] is a player with tremendous upside. He's a player who has a variety of experience from his time with the U.S. Youth National Team to winning an NPSL Championship this past summer," Comets President Brian Budzinski said. "His technical ability in tight spaces will be a welcome addition to the team."

Pittman, 24, will join the Comets after a 35-point season with the Wichita B-52's where found the back of the net on 15 occasions and recorded 20 assists.

"It is a privilege and honor to be able to represent such a quality organization. I have done my research about the team and as a soccer player, you want to join one of the best and I couldn't be more thrilled to have gotten this opportunity," Pittman said. "I'm excited to be joining such quality players."

The Manassas, Virginia native has played the game at the highest levels. During his early teenage years, he competed for the U-14 U.S. National Team and had a successful couple of years for the Virginia State & Regional ODP Teams, which paid off with a call up to the U-16 U.S. National Team. In addition he was named an Adidas ESP 2007 All-Star.

"From my experience playing against the Comets last year, I believe my style of play matches the style of the team," Pittman added. "I'm looking forward to adding to the Comets exciting soccer and winning ways but most importantly completing the season with an MASL Championship."

Later on, he played for the DC United U-18 Academy and U-18 US National Team before attending D1 West Virginia University and completing four seasons with the Mountaineers.

Kansas City, Missouri native Cody Hoffman will enter his first full season with the Comets after being signed as a free agent last year. The 19-year-old midfielder has yet to make his professional debut with the team.

"Having a full preseason camp and a second year to learn [Coach] Vlatko's system will be very beneficial for Cody," Budzinski said. "We expect his game to continue to trend upwards as his experience grows."

Missouri Comets: The Comets enter the second season of the Major Arena Soccer League after a perfect 20-0 regular season. For more information on season tickets or single-game tickets, call 855-4KC-GOAL.
