Stamps Make First Visit to Ticats' New Home

September 30, 2015 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

It's a battle of division leaders and 2014 Grey Cup finalists on Friday as the Stampeders travel to Hamilton to face the Tiger-Cats. Kickoff at Tim Hortons Field is 5:30 p.m. MDT.

Calgary has a CFL-best 10-3 record and holds a one-game lead over Edmonton in the West Division. Hamilton is 8-4 and is one win ahead of Ottawa and Toronto in the East.

Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel needs one more win to tie Cal Murphy for 10th place on the CFL's all-time list for regular-season coaching victories. Hufnagel, in his eighth season as head coach, currently stands at 98 wins.

The Stamps were 25-23 winners in Winnipeg last week while the Ticats are coming off a bye.

Calgary and Hamilton met in the 2015 season-opener with the Stamps pulling out a 24-23 victory at McMahon Stadium.

The Stamps are the only CFL club that has yet to play at the Ticats' new home, which opened on Labour Day of 2014. Tim Hortons Field is the fifth different venue for the Stamps' road game against the Ticats in the past five years. In 2011, they played Hamilton in Touchdown Atlantic in Moncton, N.B., where the Ticats were designated as the home team. The following season, they played at Ivor Wynne Stadium during that building's final season.

While the Ticats' new stadium was being built, the Stamps played the Tabbies at the University of Guelph in 2013 and at Hamilton's McMaster University in 2014.

The Stamps are 3-3 on the road this season and 4-2 against East Division teams. Hamilton is 5-2 against the West and 4-2 at home.
