(Bridgewater, N.J., Sept. 27, 2015) -The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 4-0 on Sunday evening in Game Five of the 2015 Liberty Division Championship Series at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots won the best-of-five series three games to two.

Somerset opened the scoring in the fourth with a pair of two-out runs off of Ducks starter John Brownell. A RBI single by Nate Spears and a bases loaded hit by pitch of Aharon Eggleston highlighted the scoring. An inning later, back-to-back two-out RBI singles by Ollie Linton and Adam Donachie doubled the lead to four.

Roy Merritt (2-0) earned the win, tossing a complete game shutout. The left-hander allowed just four hits and one walk over nine innings while striking out three batters. Brownell (0-2) took the loss, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings.

The Ducks would like to thank all of their fans for coming out and supporting the team during the 2015 season. Thanks to you, the team led the Atlantic League in overall attendance during the regular season at 358,317 and average attendance at 5,269. Season tickets for the 2016 season of Long Island Ducks baseball are now available.
