Rockets Win Opener 4-3

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 on Friday night at Prospera Place, winning its home opener and kicking off the 2015-16 WHL season in winning fashion.
Tyson Baillie had two goals and an assist and Dillon Dube had two helpers to lead the offense while Jackson Whistle was solid in net to earn the win.
With the game tied 1-1 after the first period, the Rockets scored three times in the second period to build a 4-2 lead as Baillie, Tomas Soustal and Justin Kirkland staked Kelowna to a lead.
The Blazers made the score 4-3 in the third period but Whistle was stellar, turning aside 13 Kamloops shots as the Blazers outshot Kelowna 33-30.
The Rockets continue a busy three game weekend on Saturday night in Kamloops in the back half of the home-and-home between the two rivals. On Sunday the Rockets will play in Vancouver against the Giants as Kelowna plays six straight road games.
Kelowna's next home game is October 9 against Victoria.
