Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Pacers Head Coach Frank Vogel and star players Paul George and C.J. Miles have joined local efforts to send the Indiana Fever back to the WNBA Finals with the purchase of 1,500 tickets to Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Sunday afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
In an effort to pack the house against the New York Liberty, complimentary tickets will be distributed to fans on Friday at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box Office. Vogel, George and Miles each have contributed the purchase of 500 tickets to help Fever fans attend Sunday's game.
In search of a third trip to the WNBA Finals since 2009, the Fever fell in Game 1 against the New York Liberty on Wednesday evening. The Fever hope to force a deciding Game 3 with a win over the Liberty on Sunday. Tipoff for Game 2 is 1:00 p.m. The winner of the best-of-three series will advance to the WNBA Finals, beginning Sunday, Oct. 4, to meet the winner of the West Finals, either the Phoenix Mercury or Minnesota Lynx.
Fever fans may collect up to a maximum four tickets per person beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box Office. Additional tickets also are available at the box office or at FeverBasketball.com and all Ticketmaster outlets, beginning at just $12.
Simultaneous to the ticket giveaway, and partnering with Downtown Indy's Food Truck Friday event on the west block of Georgia Street, a Fever rally will be conducted for fans. Fans can pick up Fever cheer cards, enjoy playoff cookies or spin the Fever prize wheel. The rally lasts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Fever Playoffs are presented by Old National Bank. Fans are encouraged to wear RED to Sunday's game, the same as in 2012 when the Fever won its first WNBA championship and the first pro basketball championship in Indiana since the ABA Indiana Pacers in 1973.
Indiana's streak of five straight seasons in the conference finals (2011-15) matches the WNBA record shared by the Los Angeles Sparks (1999-03) and Minnesota Lynx (also current). The Fever are participating in their WNBA-record 11th consecutive postseason.
A WNBA playoff participant in 11 straight seasons and 12 times since 2002, the Indiana Fever have reached at least the conference finals eight times in the past 11 years - including WNBA Finals appearances in 2009 and 2012. Just three seasons ago, Indiana capped the 2012 campaign as the champions of women's basketball, beating the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA Finals.
