Attack Kick off 2015/2016

September 24, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

After a long summer the Owen Sound Attack are ready to begin the 2015-16 Ontario Hockey League regular season with a pair of divisional match ups this weekend.

The season will commence with a trip to Kitchener to take on the Rangers on Friday, Sept. 25 before Owen Sound returns home for the Bruce Telecom Home Opener on Saturday, Sept. 26 against the Guelph Storm. Owen Sound enters the year having finished directly between the Rangers and Storm in the 2014-15 season and is prepared for another year of close games with their division rivals.

After posting a 35-24-2-7 record for 79 points last year, the Attack finished five points up on the Rangers, who wound up 6th in the Western Conference with 74 points. The 2014-15 season series between the teams favoured Owen Sound, who won five of the eight matchups, including two of the four contests at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

Saturday's contest will be a re-match of the Western Conference Quarterfinals as the Guelph Storm and Owen Sound Attack meet for the first time since a showdown in last year's playoffs. Owen Sound finished one point behind Guelph in the 2014-15 regular season and the two teams battled in an intense five game playoff series that saw four games decided by one goal, with two needing overtime.

The Attack enter the weekend looking for rookie forward Nick Suzuki and 2nd year winger Petrus Palmu to carry over their hot play from the pre-season. Suzuki led the team with one goal and four assists in four exhibition games, while Palmu also produced at a point per game clip, adding three goals and one assist in the team's four pre-season contests.

The Attack will also be bolstered this weekend by the return of four players who missed most of the pre-season while away at NHL training camps. Jaden Lindo (Pittsburgh), Liam Dunda (St. Louis), Jarett Meyer (Detroit), and Jack Flinn are expected to be back in the Attack lineup this weekend.

Both of this weekend's games are slated to begin at 7:30 pm and can be viewed live on Rogers Local 53. Friday night's contest in Kitchener can also be listened to on 560 CFOS Bear Radio.

Saturday night's game will be preceded by the 560 CFOS/Mix 106.5/Country 93 Attack Home Opener Celebration, which runs from 5:30 pm right up until puck drop and will feature a charity barbecue, draws, and much more.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
