Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Mississippi RiverKings mascot, RiverThing, was on hand at the second annual 5K for Relay at the Landers Center on Saturday, September 19.
RiverThing greeted racers, participated in stretching and cheered on the runners as they started the race. RiverThing also handed out RiverKings information to the participants and posed for pictures with families.
"It turned out to be a wonderful night and a wonderful race," said Event Director Elizabeth Whittington. "Having the RiverKings there, a DeSoto County treasure, made the event. Our 5K is geared toward families and children, who loved having the RiverKings mascot there. The fundraising 5K combined all of our favorite things: working to raise money for the American Cancer Society, a community event that emphasized healthy family exercise, and a lot of fun."
5K for Relay is a benefit run for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of DeSoto County.
