Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks announced today that forwards Filips Buncis, Casey Linkenheld and Luke Lynch have rejoined the team and will be available for the upcoming North American Hockey League Showcase.

Buncis returns after scoring 12 points (1 goal, 11 assists) in 29 games last season. The Jelgava, Latvia native was selected for the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he scored five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in six games. He was also invited to attend the New York Islanders rookie camp during the off-season.

Linkenheld was one of the leading scorers for the Tomahawks last season, leading the team with 23 goals and ranking fifth with 20 assists. Linkenheld joined former Tomahawks Shane Bednard and Ryan Bednard by committing to Bowling Green. He was also selected by Cedar Rapids in Phase Two of the USHL Draft.

Lynch rejoins the Tomahawks after appearing in 56 of the team's 60 games last season. The Pittsburgh native scored 22 points (15 goals, 7 assists). Lynch was selected by the Youngstown Phantoms during Phase Two of the 2015 USHL Draft.

"Getting these three players back adds a new exciting element to our lineup. All three had successful seasons last year and should be able to fit right into what we have here. They are familiar with the team and we know what each of them can bring to the table each night," said Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia.

The Tomahawks begin their showcase schedule Wednesday afternoon against the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. Face-off is set for 2:30 p.m. EST at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Johnstown opens its 2015-16 home schedule Oct. 16 and 17 against New Jersey, with a special appearance by Hockey Hall of Famer and National Hockey League legend Bobby Hull scheduled for the Oct. 16 game.
