BILOXI, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following promotions from the Biloxi Shuckers to the major league roster after the conclusion of the Shuckers' season on Monday night. Pitcher Tyler Wagner returns to the Brewers major league roster after making one start with the club on May 31 and has been selected along with fellow pitchers Jorge Lopez, Adrian Houser and Yhonathan Barrios. Infielder Yadiel Rivera and outfielder Michael Reed have also been selected.

The group of six Biloxi Shuckers will join the Brewers in Chicago for game two of a three game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Shuckers lost game five of the Southern League Championship Series to the Chattanooga Lookouts on Monday night.

Wagner, 24, became the first Biloxi Shucker to be promoted to the major leagues and made his debut on May 31 at Miller Park against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Las Vegas native took a no decision in 3.2 innings during a 17 inning, 7-6 marathon victory by the Brewers over the D-backs.

Wagner was the Southern League's ERA champion, posting a 2.25 ERA and finishing 11-5 over a career-high 152.1 innings pitched, striking out a 120 and walking 45..

Lopez, 22, the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher and postseason All-Star by Baseball America, Yahoo Sports and the Southern League went 12-5 with a 2.26 ERA. After allowing seven runs in seven innings in his first two starts of the season, the 22-year-old from Cayey, Puerto Rico surrendered six over his next six starts. Lopez was named the Brewers' Minor League Pitcher of the Year and was the organizations Pitcher of the Month in June, July and August going 9-3 with a 1.54 ERA over 15 starts and 99.2 innings pitched, striking out 94 and walking just 30. Lopez held the opposition to a .193 average over the final three months.

Lopez's time with Biloxi may not have had the desired finish with a loss in game five of the Southern League championship, but the righty's numbers were still impressive over the postseason, allowing five runs - four earned - over 16.2 innings with seven walks and 16 strikeouts.

Barrios, 23, began his career as an infielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization before converting to a pitcher in 2013. Barrios was acquired in a trade from the Pirates on July 23, in exchange for Aramis Ramirez and held right-handed hitters to a .200 average over 16 relief appearances with Biloxi and went 6-for-6 in save opportunities. The native of Cartagena, Columbia held opponents scoreless over his first nine innings.

During the postseason, Barrios earned two saves and allowed just one run over 5.1 innings and batters were 3-for-19 against him.

Houser, 22, arrived in Biloxi in early August after being acquired on July 30 from the Houston Astros along with current Brewers outfielder Domingo Santana and Shuckers' outfielder Brett Phillips and pitcher Josh Hader. In his time as a Shucker,

Houser went 4-1 with a 2.92 ERA over seven starts with Biloxi and 37 innings, striking out 32 and walking just six. Houser won four-straight starts from Aug. 13-30 and went 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA during the month of August.

Reed, 22, a former fifth-round draft pick out of Leander High School in Texas, was named a Midseason All-Star in the Southern League and jumped up to Triple-A Colorado Springs on August 1 and returned to Biloxi on Sept. 10.

Reed earned Player of the Month honors for the Brewers' organization in May after batting .380 with seven doubles, three homeruns, 17 runs driven in and went 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts.

Overall Reed posted a .371 on-base percentage in 131 games between Biloxi and Colorado Springs and batted .269 with 33 doubles, seven triples, five homeruns, 70 RBI and 26 stolen bases.

Rivera, 23, had a brilliant postseason for the Shuckers, batting .389 in eight games with two doubles, a triple, four RBI and seven runs scored, a .421 on-base percentage from the leadoff spot. Rivera opened the season with Biloxi and as a member of the Brewers 40-man roster. He was promoted to Colorado Springs on May 14 and returned to Biloxi on August 18.

Overall during the regular season, Rivera hit .253 with 17 doubles, seven triples, two homers and 44 RBI over 133 games, adding 55 runs and 12 stolen bases.

Rivera, Reed, Houser, Barrios and Lopez join Wagner has the first crop of Biloxi Shuckers to be promoted to the majors.
