Royals Open Season with a Two-Game Set on Friday & Saturday

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will begin their 2015-16 WHL Regular Season with a pair of games vs. the Portland Winterhawks on Friday and Saturday night. Friday's game is the home opener while Saturday's contest is presented by Save-On-Foods. Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
SPECIAL GUEST: The Royals are extremely excited to welcome back Canadian sports entertainer Cameron Hughes for Friday night's game. The Ottawa, ON native has ignited crowds at over 1,125 sporting events across North America and will bring his unique method to pum-up fans and cheer on the Royals. ROOKIE WONDERS: The Royals' Matthew Phillips and Scott Walford finished the pre-season tied for the team lead in scoring, as well as tied for fourth overall in league scoring. Phillips, a 1998-born forward, recorded seven points (4g-3a) over seven contests, while Walford, a 1999-born rearguard, collected one goal and six assists over the same amount of games played.
FRIDAY - HOME OPENER
Pre-Game:
- The first 2,500 fans will receive a Marty the Marmot tumbler cup.
- The Investors Group will be on hand at Gate 1 for a food drive supporting the Mustard Seed Food Bank. Fans are encouraged to bring their non-perishable food donation to the game to receive a discount offer for a future Royals' game.
- The Zone will be giving away $100 to 10 lucky fans prior to puck drop.

- Tickets to Friday's contest are still available, but moving quickly. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance at the Select Your Tickets Box Office, online at www.selectyourtickets.com or over the phone at 250-220-7777 in order to avoid longer than normal lines.

o Two fans will race head-to-head to solve a puzzle. The winner will receive a Havoc mini-speaker and a $25 Visa gift card.
SATURDAY - PRESENTED BY SAVE-ON-FOODS
Pre-Game:
- Save-On-Foods will be outside Gate 1 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with hot dogs and refreshments available by donation to the BC Children's Hospital.
- The first 2,000 fans will receive the official 2015-16 Victoria Royals Save-On-Foods Calendar.
