Cougars Reassign Riley Mohr and Peter Kope

Prince George, B.C. - Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins announced today that the Prince George Cougars have reassigned defencemen Riley Mohr (1997 - Regina, SK) and Peter Kope (1999 - Edmonton, AB). Mohr will join the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, while Kope will join the CAC Edmonton Canadians Midget AAA program.

Riley Mohr was a free agent invite to Prince George Cougars Training Camp, and was signed to a Standard WHL Player Agreement on September 3rd, 2015. The 6'2", 180 pounder dressed in four preseason games and recorded two assists, four penalty minutes and finished with a +4 rating.

Peter Kope was originally drafted by the Prince George Cougars in the fifth round (93rd overall) of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and signed a Standard WHL Player Agreement with the Cougars on August 31st, 2015. In three preseason appearances, Kope registered an assist, eight penalty minutes and had an even plus-minus rating.

"Riley and Peter have both worked very hard up to this point and didn't look the least bit out of place during Training Camp and the preseason," said Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. "You don't win without great defense, and our depth on defense has become a major strength of our organization. Both players are heading to strong programs and will be counted upon to provide big minutes in all situations. We will continue to monitor their growth and development and we fully expect both players to contribute to our success at some point soon."

The Prince George Cougars roster now sits at 27 players: 17 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders. After finishing up the preseason with a 6-5 victory Saturday against Kamloops, the Prince George Cougars are now setting their sights on their home opener, which goes Friday, September 25th at 7:00 PM against the Everett Silvertips.
